Submission of abstracts and short reports

Abstracts

Those participants interested in submitting their papers, must edit the abstracts by using Office Word format, 12-point Arial Font, 2,5 cm symmetric margins. Abstract must be enclosed and e-mailed to: hematologia2017@infomed.sld.cu before January 30th, 2017. At the subject of the e-mail, you must add up the follow: Abstract for Hematology-2017.

Some other requirements for the submission of abstracts:

  • The headline of the abstract must meet the follows:
  • Title of the Paper (in bold).
  • Authors on a separate paragraph (first and second last name linked by a hyphen, next the initials of the names, author´s name must be underlined)
  • Institution or Organization: official name of every authors´ organization, by marking with one digit, City and Country it is located.
  • Author´s e-mail.

The body of the abstract must be made in one paragraph only, including: a brief introduction with objectives, materials and methods, main results and the most relevant conclusions. It must not exceed 300 words.

In case of papers as lectures, used in a symposium or round table, abstract must meet the same requirements, by adjusting the body of the abstract to the content of the issue.

Abstracts will not be accepted, if they fail to meet the established requirements. They will be accepted by e-mail only.

The Scientific Committee will be in charge of analyzing the abstracts and inform the author on its acceptance. Whether the abstract is accepted to be included in the scientific program, it will be requested to be e-mailed, according to the established norms, so as to be published in the Proceedings of the Congress.

Deadline for the submission of abstracts: January 30th, 2017

Short report submission

Those papers approved by the Scientific Committee will be submitted in the Congress as it is determined by the Organizing Committee, and published in a CD as Book of Short Reports.

Norms for the submission of Short Reports of the scientific papers accepted to their presentation in the congress:

  • Submission deadline: March 31st, 2017.
  • Sent by: e-mail.
  • E-mail: hematologia2017@infomed.sld.cu.
  • Papers will not be accepted to their publication on the CD containing the Brief Reports of the Congress if they do not meet the agreed requirements or send before deadline.
  • Papers will not be returned to be corrected; therefore we call upon the authors to take better care of their writing.

Publication as Short Report:

On the headline:

  • Title of the Paper (not exceeding 15 words).
  • Modality of presentation approved.
  • Authors´ full name, underlining the main author or person in charge of the presentation in the event (in case of the first author is not present), specialty and name of institution the authors belong to.
  • City and country of origin.
  • Main author´s e-mail.

The text in e-format by using Microsoft Word (.doc), in letter sheet (8,5 x 11), 12-point Arial font and symmetric margins (2,5 cm). It must have about 1 000 and 2 000 words, without including the words of charts.

For oral free topics and e-Poster:

The structure of the body of Short Report must meet the follows:

    Already approved 300 word abstract

    Key words

    Introduction

    Objectives (general and specific)

    Materials and Methods

    Main results

    .

    Conclusions

    Recommendations

    Bibliography (up to 5 references of the 5 last years) in accordance with Vancouver Norms

  • Bibliography (up to 5 references of the 5 last years) in accordance with Vancouver Norms.

Additionally, you are able to add up one chart (so as to clarify the main results).

In the case of Master Lectures or talks in Symposia, Brief Report should not necessarily have the previous structure, but it must have about 1 000 – 2 000 words and up to five bibliographic references of the five last years. In addition, a chart can be included.

Both clinical and surgical cases will be presented for e-poster modality only. The structure of Short Report must include the follows:

    Already approved 300 word abstract

    Key words

    Introduction

    Presentation of the patient (general data, clinical examination, and other data of interest).

    Case Discussion

  • Final remarks
  • Bibliography (up to 5 references of the 5 last years) according to Vancouver Norms.
  • In addition, one figure or one chart can be included.
Deadline for the submission of papers:March 31st., 2017

E-Posters must meet the following requirements:

  • Five Power Ponit slides only, including:
    1-Title and Authors´ full name,
    2-Introduction & objectives,
    3-Material and Methods,
    4-Results
    5-Conclusions.
  • Vertical orientation
  • Dimensions: 27 cm (wide) and 36 cm (long) (10.6 in X 14.2 in).
  • You must use Microsoft Office Power Point Format.
  • The author will add in the upper right-hand corner the final code or number (given by the Organizing Committee) identifying the e-Poster.
  • Type of font: Minimum 24-point Arial Font in Italics and bold.
  • Pictures: They must have a great resolution. Be careful with their dimensions when adding them up. Pictures with low resolution must have a lower size.
  • Charts: Check the body of the used fonts for the legends of charts.

Presentations: You do not need to submit your Power Point slides presentation archive to the Organizing Committee. It must be deliver at the Havana International Conference Center Audiovisual Aids Reception Office located on the first floor near the Information Board No. 1, on the morning of Tuesday May 9th, 2017. The Power Point Presentation archive most be identified by the final reference number assigned by the Scientific Committee to the approved scientific work, and it will be shown in computers of every room accordingly with the Scientific Program.

Audiovisual aids required for presentations, should be requested in advance to the Scientific Committee.

CDs, DVDs and mass storage drives enclosing the papers will be submitted by the lecturers at the Audiovisual Aids Reception Office, 24 hours before the presentation in the corresponding room. This office is located on the first floor of the Havana International Conference Center.

Digital presentations must meet the following requirements:

Windows operating systems.

  • PowerPoint presentations.
  • CD, DVD and mass storage drives presentations.
  • Compressed presentations with the following applications: WinZip version 8,0 (or lower), WinRAR version 2,5 (or lower), Arj.

The associated programs must have the following installers (Quicktime, Adobe Acrobat and so forth).
