Symposia:
– Elimination strategies of mother-to-child transmission of congenital syphilis and HIV
– New strategies for the management, prevention and control of leptospirosis in The Americas region
Leptospirosis is considered a health problem worldwide. In our countries, the emergence and re-emergence of this disease in humans and animals is mainly associated to climatic and socio-cultural factors. Lyme Disease and Recurrent Fever are little-known and little-studied borreliosis in developing countries while Syphilis is still one of the main sexually transmitted infections worldwide, which has re-emerged over the last decades. That is why surveillance and control of these diseases require updated knowledge on epidemiology, clinical care, and microbiology.
The Cuban Society of Microbiology and Parasitology along with the “Pedro Kourí” Tropical Medicine Institute (IPK) and other national and international organizations invite you to be part of the IV International Course-Workshop “Spirochetes Havana 2016” including two symposia about elimination of congenital syphilis and management, prevention and control of leptospirosis. The aim of this course is to debate through theoretical-practical sessions, lectures, and presentations the most relevant and state-of-the-art issues on these entities.
The event will be held in Havana city from May 9 to 13, 2016.
We will be looking forward to your participation.
